Description

Art Adventures is a quiet shift in pace—a moment where Queenstown’s vast landscapes are no longer simply to look at, but something to connect with and respond to. Easels out, set against majestic mountain backdrops and teal green rivers, we gather not as tourists, but as participants—curious, creative, and open to the experience. There’s a sense of adventure in reaching each location, followed by time to slow down, sketch, connect with the land and take it all in. Between moments of focus and creative observation, there’s conversation, shared laughter, and the simple pleasure of good food enjoyed outdoors. Guided gently by a local artist, each person finds their own way into the landscape, leaving not just with a memory, but with something they’ve made—an imprint of place, connection, and a day well spent.

"I recently joined Raquel’s Art Adventures tour to the Routeburn Track—and wow, what an incredible day it was. We started with a warm welcome at her cosy studio in Country Lane. Straight away, I felt at ease. From there, we headed to Glenorchy and began our gentle walk along the beautiful Nature Loop. The forest was lush, peaceful and full of those small magical details that just make you stop and look. Raquel guided us through the walk with pauses to observe and take in the surroundings. I loved the way she encouraged us to slow down and really see—it reminded me of why I enjoy making art: to connect, reflect and just be present. After the walk, we painted by the river and had afternoon tea surrounded by birdsong and fresh air. It was peaceful, inspiring and a real treat for the senses. We were also given a Moleskine sketchbook and a set of beautiful pencils—which I’ve already started using for my art journaling and observation drawings. If you’re looking for a creative experience that mixes nature, art and joy, I highly recommend this tour. It’s thoughtful, well-paced and leaves you feeling full—in the best way. Thank you, Raquel, for such a memorable day."

"I recently had the opportunity to join a tour with Raquel and I'm glad I made this choice as I usually don't book "tourist" tours but explore on my own. Raquel’s passion and expertise shone through the entire tour. She has crafted an itinerary that combines breathtaking landscapes, local knowledge and hands on art practice. Perfect for both experienced artists and complete beginners like myself. I loved the mix of outdoor exploration and creative expression. We saw some stunning locations that only a local would know (and I have been travelling New Zealand since 2019) which offered inspiration for painting and sketching - and helped me detox from life's hustle bustle. Raquel provided all art materials and gave guidance fitting each person’s level - and nobody was left out as the group size was very small, which made it easy to connect with the other participants. I never felt rushed or pressured (like on other tours, where you rush from one sight to another) instead, the focus was on enjoying the process of painting and the scenery, which really helped to let my creativity flow (and I always thought I wasn't a creative person!) This tour provided a wonderful balance of nature, art and relaxation and I highly recommend booking an Art Adventures tour with Raquel! Thank you Raquel for an unforgettable day :) I miss the South Island already."
